DMEA 2020 - Only on the Internet

DMEA 2020 to be held as a virtual event

On Wednesday, 15 April Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and the ministers president of the German States agreed a ban on staging large events until at least 31 August 2020. This ban makes it impossible to hold DMEA as previously intended in its physical form in June.

As DMEA 2020 will not be taking place on the exhibition grounds visitors who have purchased tickets will receive a full refund. Invoices sent to exhibitors by Messe Berlin will be cancelled and any instalments paid will also be refunded.

Nevertheless, we are convinced that digitalisation in the healthcare system and communicating this subject remain as topical as ever. For that reason, we wish to provide a corresponding platform with a virtual edition of DMEA.

We are also working hard to ensure that all our website information and content is abreast of current events. We regret any inconvenience caused if not all our internet services can be accessed over the coming days and if here and there things do not function entirely smoothly.

Below you will find a list of the most common questions for exhibitors and trade visitors, which we will update regularly. If you have any further questions, please contact your respective contact person (see column on the right) or write to dmea@messe-berlin.de.

Why was the decision taken to cancel DMEA on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds?

Due to the rapid and global spread of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) it became difficult to predict future developments. For that reason we decided to offer a final assessment on 20 April 2020 regarding whether and in what form it would be possible to hold DMEA in June, in particular with a view to the safety and health of all concerned.

On 15 April 2020 Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and the ministers president of the German States extended the ban on staging large events to 31 August 2020, as a result of which it will not be possible to hold DMEA in its previously intended physical form.

Will the annual cycle for holding DMEA change?

No, as things stand DMEA 2021 will take place from 13 to 15 April 2021.
