Postponement of DMEA 2020

On Wednesday the WHO officially declared the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a pandemic. Furthermore, the Berlin public health authorities have decided to cancel large events with over 1,000 participants until 19 April 2020.

In the light of these developments and as a health and safety precaution for our exhibitors, visitors and partners we have decided to postpone this year’s DMEA, which will now take place from 16 to 18 June 2020.

We are working as quickly as possible to keep the content on our website up to date. Please excuse the inconvenience caused by that and check back if any services are not available at the time of your visit.

Below you will find a list of the most common questions for exhibitors and trade visitors, which we will update regularly. If you have any further questions, please contact your respective contact person (see column on the right) or write to dmea@messe-berlin.de

Have cancellations by attendees or exhibitors influenced this decision?

No. The cancellations which have reached us for DMEA have been negligible.

Will the annual cycle for holding DMEA change?

No. As things stand DMEA 2021 will take place as planned from 20 to 22 April 2021.

Further Questions

I have just been informed that DMEA is being postponed. What happens next?

Our next step is to inform everyone involved. The contacts you have been dealing with will continue to be available for any enquiries and to supervise the postponement of your participation in the event.

In principle, the hall layout will be as originally planned and remain the same for DMEA in June. As far as possible, the hall allocations, stand areas and supporting programme will remain the same for the revised dates in June.

We are also working hard to ensure that all our website information and content is abreast of current events. We regret any inconvenience caused if not all our internet services can be accessed over the coming days and if here and there things do not function entirely smoothly.

I am an exhibitor and unable to attend in June. What can I do?

In the case of the event being postponed and in accordance with § 9.2 of the Terms and Conditions of Messe Berlin, exhibitors may cancel their participation in the postponed event. A statement to this effect is required in writing by 20 March 2020. In this case we shall no longer charge a stand fee.

Do existing contracts and previously booked services remain valid?

Yes. If you take part in the event on the revised dates all previously booked services and existing contracts remain valid.

Payment deadlines are approaching. Will these be moved back too or must we pay now?

Please assume that the original payment deadlines apply and schedule your payments accordingly.

I am an exhibitor and taking part on the revised dates of the event. Will I receive the same stand area?

Re-allocation may occur due to a change in participation numbers. In this event we will contact you.

Will there be any changes to the stand fee or service charges?

No. The fees for your previously booked stand or service charges remain the same.

Will Messe Berlin GmbH reimburse expenses for services booked with third parties, catering, travel fares/accommodation, Visa etc?

No. Services booked with third parties are the subject of a contract between the parties who entered into the relevant agreement. Thus, Messe Berlin does not reimburse any costs.

Please note:This information sheet shall not form the basis for any legal claims. If necessary please contact Messe Berlin.

Are tickets and ticket vouchers still valid?

Yes. Tickets for visitors and vouchers remain valid.

I am a visitor and unable to attend in June. What can I do?

If you are unable to attend DMEA in June you can cancel your ticket without giving reasons and will receive a full refund on the admission price. Please send an email stating “DMEA ticket cancellation“ in the headline to kartenservice@messe-berlin.de.

Can air and rail ticket fares be refunded?

We regret that rail and air ticket fares cannot be refunded by DMEA.

However, in certain cases both Deutsche Bahn and many airlines are relaxing their ex-gratia regulations for customers who have to cancel their travel plans due to the coronavirus. For more information please contact the operator in question. We have no control over this.

Will Messe Berlin GmbH reimburse expenses for services booked with third parties, accommodation, Visa etc?

No. Services booked with third parties are the subject of a contract between the parties who entered into the relevant agreement. Thus, Messe Berlin does not reimburse any costs. We recommend you contact your hotel/accommodation at the earliest opportunity under all circumstances.
