Prof. Dr. Oliver Bott
Prof. Dr. Oliver Bott is Professor of Medical Informatics at Hochschule Hannover
Born in 1968, Oliver Bott studied Informatics, specialising in Medical Informatics at Universität Hildesheim. In 2001 he gained a doctorate at the Institute for Medical Informatics at TU Braunschweig, gaining the title of Dr.-Ing. His subject was ’The architecture of process-supporting information systems in hospitals’.
He then worked as a research assistant in this field on the methods and tools for analysing, developing and managing information systems in healthcare (over 100 publications at national and international level). He continued to work as a freelance consultant and deputy managing director of u_m_i Informatik GmbH, Braunschweig.
In 2007 he became professor of Medical Informatics at Hochschule Hannover (responsible for the Medical Information Management course), since 2014 he is CIO and since 2016 vicepresident for research, IT- and Information Management ibid.. and head of the affiliated eLearning services department. From 2004 to 2007 he was vice president of the German Professional Association for Medical Informatics (BVMI) and since 2007 has been an observer. He is a member of the advisory committee of the Competence Centre for the Electronic Signature in Healthcare. His interests and research work focus on healthcare information systems and medical computer-based training. In 2010 he received the Science Award of Lower Saxony.
From 16 to 19 February 2011 he presided over the specialist conference of DVMD e.V. in Hannover on the subject of ’Medical information management 3.0’.
