Dipl.-Inf. (FH) Helmut Schlegel, Member of the Board of the German Association of Hospital IT Managers (KH-IT)
After a career as a training officer with the German Air Force Helmut Schlegel studied Informatics at Hochschule Regensburg. During his time studying he worked for IBM Systemservice in München and Nürnberg. After graduating he worked for BULL AG in Stuttgart as a systems consultant and supervisor of large-scale projects for six years. During the next ten years at BULL AG in Nürnberg he held several management positions: with System Integration & Services (head consultant for Northern Bavaria, head of the Consulting Center for Southern Germany, Systems head for Industry customers in Germany, head of the Consulting Center for SAP Cluster Central Europe in Walldorf, head of Service Marketing SAP). In September 1996 Helmut Schlegel answered the call of the Health Committee of the city of Nürnberg and took over responsibility for IT at the city’s hospital clinic. This was followed with management responsibility for the entire hospital enterprise in Nürnberg, including that of its subsidiaries. In august 2017 he ended his career as CIO at Nuremberg Hospital.
From 2002 to 2007 Helmut Schlegel was deputy spokesman of the AK Hospital of DSAG e.V. From 2006 to 2009 he was spokesman of AG IT of the Working Group of Large Communal Hospitals (akg). From 2009 till 2017 he was elected by the German Cities Council as member of the IT Working Group of Deutsche Krankenhausgesellschaft. In May 2011 he was appointed as a member of the management of the Association of German Hospital Managers. In 2010 he published a book entitled ’IT control Hospital Management’. In 2013 he was elected as a member of the Medical Informatics Certification Committee of GMDS e.V., GI e.V. and des BVMI e.V. with responsibility for ’management expertise’. In 2017 he was named as permanent representor of the akg in the strategy comitee of the VUD e. V..He is also visiting lecturer at several technical colleges. He continues to lecture at numerous congresses and other events.
