Martin Overath has been working for knowledgepark GmbH since 2018. As internal IT service provider of the association Kuratorium für Dialyse und Nierentransplantation e. V. (KfH), knowledgepark provides information technology for 220 dialysis centres and cooperating surgeries as well as for 5,800 employees, including 1,200 physicians.
As IT architect, Martin Overath is responsible for realignment and advancement of the medical workspace. In line with KfH’s IT strategy, the centres’ and surgeries’ IT support systems are gradually reorganised to include centralised and scalable IT services. The new IT service “Connecting telematics infrastructure” is an essential step towards achieving this goal. knowledgepark is also working on new IT services such as “appointment and resource management” and “electronic patient file in a VNA”.
Before joining knowledgepark, Mr. Overath, who obtained his degree in computer sciences, worked in the hospital sector for more than 25 years, most recently as head of the ICT department of the University Hospital Frankfurt. In this position he managed projects on further development of the electronic patient file, standardised RIS/PACS, a standardised laboratory information system, innovative IT systems for medical treatment pathways and systems for research and teaching.
Before this, he was chief software developer at the University Hospital Marburg. His key topics are hospital IT, process optimisation, patient safety, IT architecture and man-machine interaction.
