Dr Ben Illigens
Dr. Ben M.W. Illigens studied human medicine at the FU Berlin. With support from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes (German National Academic Foundation), he completed his advanced training in neurology, bioinformatics and clinical informatics at the Harvard Medical School in Boston, where he has been a member of the faculty since 2008. In addition, he is the head of a Master´s program in Clinical Research at Dresden International University. Dr. Illigens has long experience in the American healthcare system and is an expert in digitization of clinical processes, big data analytics and the translational combination of clinic, research and teaching.
Since summer 2018, he has been managing director of the IT subsidiary UniMedIT of VUD (Verband der Universitätsklinika Deutschlands e.V.) and MFT (Medizinischer Fakultätentag e.V.), in order to support digitization at university hospitals in Germany and to coordinate the Federal Ministry of Education and Research´s medical informatics initiative.
