The presentation of the conhIT Newcomer Award was one of the highlights of this year’s conhIT Careers Programme. A five-person panel of experts chosen from among representatives of the bvitg and its cooperating partners presented the awards, with a total value of 6,500 euros, to the graduates of various universities and colleges. Among the Bachelor candidates the first prize was awarded to Dominique Cheray (Hochschule Mannheim). She impressed the judges with her concept and development of an application for ultrasonically guided percutaneous cannulation. This year’s award for the best submission in the Masters category went to Janek Gröhl (Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg / HS Heilbronn), who presented a new form of machine learning based on quantitative photo-acoustic tomography, for which a patent has already been applied in advance of conhIT.
